Start by thinking about the event you're dressing for. Will you be eating? Dancing? Standing up? Sitting down? Will you have to walk these or is someone driving? What is happening at the event has a huge impact on what you wear - nothing too tight if you're eating, no heels if you're walking and never ever an outfit that can stop you dancing!
