Forbes just published its first ever 30 Under 30 list. In its entirety, it actually honors 360 individuals under the age of 30 who, they write, answer the following questions: “Who is reinventing the world? Who should you hire today? Who will you be working for in 20 years? Who, in short, under the age of 30, matters?” The nearly 400 names are split into categories like energy, music, media, food and wine, science, real estate, and art and design. The latter, of course, is stuffed full of fashion names. Joseph Altuzarra leads the pack; they even call him “fashion’s next Marc Jacobs.” He’s joined by the 25-year-old Olsen twins and Alexander Wang—both of whom have created mini-empires at ridiculously young ages. From there it gets more surprising. Pamela Love’s earned a spot on the list, as well as Molly Yestadt, of Yestadt millinery. Their names were chosen by a team of Forbes reporters and narrowed down by three judges: Chuck Close, Jeffrey Deitch and Simon Doonan. If you’d sat on the judging panel, who would you have chosen?

Though the world has a new future Queen to look to for fashion fantasies, it’s hard to forget Princess Diana’s emblematic style. Her gowns continue to fetch high prices at auction, and now five of them will be on public display at Kensington Palace. Beginning March 26th, the palace will host a handful of the late royal’s most memorable fashion moments—from a fuchsia silk dress by Catherine Walker to a black shift designed by Gianni Versace. Also included in the line-up is a controversial strapless black taffeta gown by Emanuel that received criticism in the 80′s for its dark color and revealing neckline. How times have changed, as Duchess Kate wore something quite similar to a military ball over the weekend—garnering rave reviews for her bold, uncharacteristically sexy choice (courtesy of Alexander McQueen). The exhibit will be creatively titled, ‘Diana,’ and it’s part of a celebration for Kensington Palace’s $19 million renovation, just the start of a giant year for the royal family. 2012 will also mark Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee and the London Olympics, of which Duchess Kate is an ambassador, so there’s much more regal fashion to come!

Bottega Veneta may not rank highly in the minds of animal lovers, seeing that their spring 2012 collection alone featured glazed crocodile, grommet-covered ostrich, and lizard skin accessories. But their standing with tree-huggers just went up. The luxury brand’s Milan headquarters was recently awarded a “Carbon Neutral 2010” certification. It’s apparently just the beginning for Bottega though. The brand is planning to reduce greenhouse gas emissions during their fashion week and sales campaigns—times of the year when pollution spikes, according to the brand. No surprise, considering the amount of power, energy, and air travel that goes into producing a single show. Luckily they’re already moving in the right direction by using carbon credits to offset additional impact. Bottega isn’t the first luxury label to go green, though. Stand-out predecessors include Stella McCartney and Vivienne Westwood who takes part in the International Trade Centre’s ethical fashion program. Maria Cornejo‘s also on board—she used fabric made of recycled cassette tapes in her pre-fall collection. All in all, this is certainly a spring trend that we can get behind.
