An easy way to add drama to your hairstyle? Pull it all to one side like Selena Gomez at the People’s Choice Awards. Here’s a quick way to pull off this look:

1. The night before, pin up wet or damp hair into 2-4 buns, depending on the thickness of your hair.

2. In the morning, remove the buns, spritz hair with a texturing spray or volumizing mousse and scrunch (best bet: blow dry with a diffuser).

3. Pull hair to one side and pin close to the neck and/or behind the ear.

If you’ve got more than a few minutes to spare and really want to make the most of this look, follow these instructions by Jamal Hammadi, Gomez’s hairstylist and the mastermind behind this style: “I first sprayed the Hamadi Shea Spray to add extra protection and shine. I sectioned the hair while it was dry into 4 sections, in a pie shape. I then put applied a little of the Hamadi Shea Cream. Selena’s hair is thick so the product worked perfectly in her hair. I first applied it to her ends and then I used a 1′ ionic FHI curling iron and started to shape Selena’s hair into an S shape. Once I finished waving Selena’s hair, I shaped her hair around her face and pinned the curled the sections very loosely because we want the S wave as opposed to a strong curl. After I set her hair, I wanted to protect her hair from static so I took the Hamadi Wooden Bristle Brush and brushed and scooped her hair to one side with the brush really getting a clean side section. I used a hairband and pinned her hair to one side creating a very simple, chic, modern off-the-shoulder look.”
