Hello my lovely flowers, today I bring you something different.

Recently, we had a new Voile release. As I logged in I sighed in disappointment as I thought "Yet another missed oportunity to bring royal clothes. I guess I will have to wait ages for a new oportunity now." Nevertheless, I went and checked the collection anyway, and as I saw the store's window I gasped out loud and couldn't believe my eyes.  There was a gown there worn by Kate!! Kate as in Catherine, the ICONIC Duchess of Cambridge!!!

Sadly it was the only one. It wasn't actually a gown that I suggested but of course it's still nice have something beautiful that your idol/role model wore! This is not the first time actually; we had a Alexander McQueen one-shoulder white gown in a previous Voile collection that in real life she wore for the 2019 BAFTAs.

It didn't cause so much hysteria from me back then because I'm not a fan of one-shoulder gowns. But I bought it of course! It's still pretty and I like collecting royal clothes we get every 100 years.

Kate proved her love for Alexander McQueen when, in 2019, she popped out of her car wearing yet another creation of the same brand this time for the Royal Variety Performance. I got so excited with this gown that I wore it immediately. So here I show you 3 looks I made with it.

For the first look, I went completely for an extremely formal outfit. This is something that any royal in the possesion of this gown would do if it was going to be worn for white tie events. As I've mentioned many times before, for highly formal events at night, royals wear orders, that's what you call the sash and that brooch there. They are actually inspired by the real Swedish Order of the Seramphim, and the brooch is a Family Order with the Current King of Sweden's (Carl XVI Gustaf) portrait framed on diamonds and a bow matching in color to the sash. Because the gown has an intricate pattern and has so many acessories over it (the orders and jewels), I didn't add more pieces of clothing and went just for a simple black clutch for her bag and a pair of black court heels. As for the jewelry, I used my favorite tiara with a combo of jewelry that I love. The diamond necklace, if you look at it up close, you can see it features diamonds in several different cuts and sizes. The earrings feature two cushion-shaped diamonds and both pieces oddly enough look great with the tiara, as it too has a geometric design (up close, it forms a lot of lozenges and round shapes, which echoes the necklace's design). I usually wear bracelets and rings (I'm all for the over-the-top jewelry look!), but the sleeves are too long so it hides them anyway.

For the second look, I went for more black tie look, therefore there are no orders or tiara.

I wore a fur wrap this time, something that is very royal-like, for a dramatic vintage royal look.  I wish I had fur wraps like this one but in darker colors. It would match the dress better. Anyway, I still found a nice Alexander McQueen inspired clutch to go with it, and I liked it, the clutch is something I'd totally see Kate pick. As for the jewels, I picked the recently-released diamond choker from the Young Hollywood collection, the only thing I bought. I actually got a bit disappointed because Salma Hayek wore a tiara with matching earrings for the Oscars and Stardoll designed the earrings but not the tiara, what a shame :( Then I tried to keep it simple by earing these interlocking diamond design earrings, which pop out a bit as the ends feature bigger diamonds, and thus matching the choker.

At this point you might have already guessed. Yes! I am a very matchy-matchy person. I like when everything matches or is done "correctly."  When wearing jewelry that comes alone (not part of a set), I  try to mix it  with jewels that feature a similar design or have diamonds featured in the same cut as the other jewels. This is why I avoid looking at celebrity looks (but not just this reason though). They almost never wear a complete set of jewelry. It's either just a pair of earrings, or a necklace alone by themselves -- no full set! That drives me crazy!!! Like, why on Earth would you leave those beautiful diamonds at home??! Bring them to shine along with the rest of the set!

Anyways, rant aside, I picked a silvery rose brooch with diamonds and black pearls, which is great because it matches the fur colorwise and the fact that it is a flower, means it matches the floral pattern of the dress, so YAY! It closes the fur wrap nicely. I love statement brooches with chokers because they add a bit of glamor to a simple look. Then I also picked this "headband" which in the tag is called tiara, but in fact, it isn't. It's actually two brooches placed on each side of the head. They are part of a vintage 1906 Christie's set, of two brooches at least, and a necklace, both on Stardoll. I could have worn the necklace here but it is older in design and it's so white the pattern hides in my doll's skin. I don't like my head bare so I had to include them. Headbands and hair brooches are actually a common thing for royals to wear at black tie events.

The other looks were so nice and tidy so I decided to go crazy and put a weird but glamorous look together. I inspired myself in the belle epoque queens (Queen Alexandra and Queen Mary of the UK) and wore layers and layers of pearls. I also wore this tiny tiara set in gold that I rarely wear - because it disappears in my doll's hair - if I recall correctly, the last time I wore it was on a gala I threw on the eve of my birthday here on Stardoll. (It's a tradition, every year I host a gala party in the finest chat interiors and me and my friends dress in formal wear. I always wear a tiara and the orders, as my birthday is an important occasion -- for me and my friends at least! I used to host more galas in the past but the lack of gowns and nice jewelry + the fact that some people can't come often to the game + and the fact that I have been styling my male account more often, has shorted it to one gala a year. You can consider yourself properly invited for the next one happening on the 30th of July, 2020.You'd be very welcome. OH, YES, almost forgot! Back to the theme! 

To match the tiara's gold setting, I went for thin, long diamond chandelier earrings set in gold and a chunky bracelet that I normaly wear with daywear. I added a dramatic fur and a larger clutch with gold accents.
