Story of Strike a Pose
Strike a Pose was created as a response to members' requests for different poses for dolls. Since it would be so difficult to introduce new doll poses, as it would require re-designing thousands of items, Stardoll created a collection of clothes with the impression of doll poses. They had parts of clothingt strategically covering body parts, like arms and legs, and creating an illusion of a doll having a pose. The items were limited and available for Superstar/Royalty members only.
The first SAP collection was a huge success, and the items from this collection are the most wanted and are sold for highest prices, especially the New Yorker Blazer Denim. Second collection was OK, with some really great pieces, but not as popular as the 1st.
For first 4 collections, exposed legs and arms were colored grey or black, as in tights or gloves. But from the 4th collection on, Stardoll decided to make a slight change. They decided to create posed dolls with the exposed parts matching the skin tone. Of course, they couldn't make it for all skin tones, so they decided to do it only for 3 - light, medium, and dark. It is obvious that the light skinned poses were the 1st to get sold out, while some dark skinned remained available until the next collection. The latest holiday themed collection has the same concept.
And that's it for now. I am really looking forward to next SAP collection, are you?
