Avoiding Drama

hace 105 meses

Drama is stressful and often hurtful to others. I try my best to avoid it, to make sure I don't get upset of upset others! Here's how I do it - you might like to see if these tips work for you too.

Be polite and think about others.
Before you start talking to someone, ask yourself whether or not you understand where they are coming from. If you don't, try to think about it from their perspective, or just ask them! It also helps to put your points across gently and politely, while acknowledging their point of view - don't let your anger get the best of you!

Don't join in with drama that isn't yours.
See people arguing, posting rude indirect statuses towards people, or saying sneaky hurtful things behind someone's back? Just don't get involved. If your friend is upset, it's okay to comfort them privately while reserving judgement on the situation as a whole. The most likely cause of the drama is probably a misunderstanding!

Stick to your own activities.
When there's lots of drama around, sometimes people misunderstand the most innocent unrelated comments. Sometimes it's better to wait for it all to blow over - switch off the computer, work on some art, go see your real life friends. When you come back, it will hopefully have finished!
