Glee‘s Dianna Agron kept her beauty routine fresh and youthful for this year’s Met Costume Institute Gala. To complement her minimalist fire-engine red Michael Kors gown, she sported flawless skin, strong brows, polished metallic eyes, and glossy lips. Topped off with a slicked back ponytail, the look was clean and simple, but far from juvenile. Read ahead to see how you can imitate this style:

Step 1. Solid Foundation

To make naturalism work in her favor, Agron ensured that her skin is looked its very best. Using a foundation to even out her tone and a pressed powder to set the makeup, she’s ready to add some sparkle and go.

Step 2. Touch-Up

Under the cameras, everyone could use a little extra magic. Try a face pen to highlight your eyes and downplay blemishes. A soft pink blush on the apples of the cheeks adds a bit of color.

Step 3. Raise Some ‘Brows

Agron’s full, perfectly arched brows lend her eyes and face shape and attitude. Use a tool to extend and shade when necessary.

Chanel’s coveted Mirifique eyeshadow won’t be available until July, but you can duplicate this color with a dark gunmetal, topped with the blackest of black mascaras. Take a cue from Agron’s example and make sure not to get too heavy-handed.

Step 5. Gloss It Over

For her big night, Agron kept her lips sheer and shiny in a light pink. Look for a brand that has hydrating qualities to help you avoid sticky combinations and still stay glossy.

Step 6. Pretty Little Horses

Be ready for anything in a slicked back, low ponytail. To achieve this style, blow dry your hair while still wet, part with a fine-tooth comb and smooth down with a serum. For a more modern look, experiment with an extreme side-part like this one.
