Black-and-White Bonanza
Inspired by the new Callie's Picks collection, which is elegant beyond compare, I set out to create multiple outfits with an entirely monochrome palette. Is it really possible to use black and white in so many ways? I wondered. The answer: a resounding yes! With my albeit limited collection of monochrome items, here's what I came up with:
For my first outfit, the goal was to create an exciting 'evening-out' look. To keep the black from looking too drab, I made sure to vary textures - the dress is sparkly, the purse quilted, the heels studded. In brighter colours, all these textures might be too much, but black is a wonderful colour in that it encourages subtlety.
My next two looks were more everyday outfits, the first suited more for summer and the second for fall. A clean white cropped tee makes for a bright summery look, with a patterned bag (with a little bit of colour...I guess I cheated here!) bringing more variety to the look. The third outfit could have used a black leather jacket or a grey knitted sweater over top, but sadly I am not the owner of such items as yet.
I may be a novice in black-and-white styling, but I'm sure some of you dolls have some great looks put together. If you have a monochrome look that's picture-perfect, let me know, and I may feature it in a future blog post! ♥
Til next time!
