How to start running [IRL]
As a child I have practiced several sports like archery or hockey, but then I had to give up for lack of time. So a few weeks ago I decided: "Enough! Now I'll run!"
Running after a long time of inactivity is not easy but I found, on an Italian personal trainer's website, a program that really helped me:
Week 1 (3days)
1 min of jog + 2 min of walk (x9)
Week 2 (3days)
2 min of jog + 3 min of walk (x6)
Week 3 (3days)
4 min of jog + 3 min of walk (x5)
Week 4 (3days)
6 min of jog + 3 min of walk (x5)
Week 5 (3days)
10 min of jog + 3 min of walk (x4)
Week 6 (3days)
15 min of jog + 3 min of walk (x3)
Week 7 (3days)
25 min of jog + 3 min of walk (x2)
Week 8
40 min of jog (Exit 1)
40 min of jog (Exit 2)
45 min of jog (Exit 3)
Week 9
45 min of jog (Exit 1)
50 min of jog (Exit 2)
50 min of jog (Exit 3)
Week 10
1 h of jog or 10 km
The key words are: calm and patience.
Our body needs time to get used so it is absolutely necessary to not overdo it and wait patiently for the results.
Only a few weeks ago I came home looking raving mad with Darth Vader's wheezy breath, while today I can run for almost half an hour without feeling tired. My next goal is The Color Run!
