vor 148 Monaten

Thanksgiving: Thanksgiving is a tradition celebrated in the USA and Canada. It is usually celebrated each year on the second Monday of October in Canada and on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States. It’s name is pretty much self explanatory and is a celebration of thanks and appreciation for everything you have, and giving to people less fortunate. The actual origins of Thanksgiving are quite uncertain as official dates for the celebration have just recently (in relation to most festivals anyway) been decided and when it wasn’t a legally recognised celebration many people in different states celebrated it on different days and for different reasons.

Diwali: Diwali is a hindu festival andis more commonly known in the Western world as ’The festival of lights’. Diwali is a five day festival is marked with candles being lit, ceremonies, firework displays and the giving of sweets (giving it it’s more common name). Women often dress up and decorate their hands with henna tattoos. Many different stories are associated with Diwali, one of which being thr celebration of the return of Lord Rama after a 14-year exile and his defeat of the demon Ravana. It occurs during October or November.
